[00:00.51]Okay,Yoko[00:01.57]Pea--ce[00:19.02]Pea--ce[00:31.57]Let's hope for peace[00:41.17]Let's hope for peace[00:49.10]Pea--ce[01:03.75]Let's hope for--ahh...[01:19.49]Pea--ce[01:26.15]Pea--ce[01:33.44]Let's hope for--(peace...)[01:42.37]Pea--ce[01:51.89]Pea--ce[02:01.71]Let's hope for pea--ce[02:11.82](Peace!Peace!Peace!Peace!)[02:15.08]Pea--ce[02:22.57]Let's hope for[02:32.86]Pea--ce[02:44.02]Pea--ce[02:50.03]Let's hope for[02:56.95]Pea--ce.[03:04.88]Oh,John![03:12.15]Let's hope for peace[03:26.70]For our children[03:31.59]For our country[03:39.44]For our world[03:45.92]For our future[03:53.09]Oh,John![03:58.85]Let's hope for peace[04:06.14]Let's hope for peace[04:17.95]Pea--ce[04:31.62]Peace...peace...[04:39.49]Let's hope for peace.[04:49.92]Oh,John![05:01.96]Peace...[05:04.49].[05:05.84]Good morning meine damen und herren[05:07.97]This is the peace call.[05:15.65]John:What we're really doing is sending out a message to the world,[05:19.55]mainly to the youth, especially the youth or anybody really that's interested in protesting for peace,[05:26.06]or protesting against any form of violence.[05:30.25]And we say everybody's getting a bit heavy or bit intellectual about it.[05:34.55]Everybody's talking about peace, but nobody's doing anything about it,[05:38.91]except for a few people.[05:42.63]And the things are,the grosvenor square marches in london.[05:45.27]The end product of it was just newspaper stories about riots and fightings.[05:50.89]And we did the bed event in amsterdam and the bag piece in vienna just to give people an idea,[05:58.95]that there's many ways of protest,[06:01.79]and this is one of them.[06:03.13]And anybody could grow their hair for peace or give up a week of their holiday for peace or sit in a bag for peace,[06:11.32]protest against peace anyway, but peacefully cause we think that peace is only got by peaceful methods[06:18.35]And that to fight the establishment with their own weapons is no good,[06:22.25]because they always win and they'd been winning for thousands of years.[06:25.79]They know how to play the game violence and it's easier for them when they can recognise you and shoot you.[06:33.99]They don't know how to handle humour,[06:37.42]peaceful humour and that's our message really.[06:41.57]Questioner:what do you think was the biggest success in history, about 300 years?[06:51.34]John:Haven't a clue.[06:52.36]Yoko:Hahh...well,maybe it's still yet to happen, you see.[06:56.56]That's why we're trying to do it.[06:58.13]In other words,[06:59.04]by very very peaceful methods to bring peace, you know instead of peace through violence,[07:05.71]that's what we're trying to do[07:06.63]and if we succeed in that, that's the biggest happening yet in the last 300 years,[07:12.79]because it's never been done and nobody has really tried it,you see.[07:17.03]And that's what we're trying to do.[07:19.60]Questioner:What would you do in case of a war?[07:23.09]John:How do you mean?[07:24.15]Questioner:What would you do immediately if you would wake up in the morning, read the newspapers and they would tell you england is in war with france?[07:31.28]John:I'd die of fright.[07:32.66]Yoko:I don't think that should happen, you konw.[07:34.33]You talk as if something's going to happen aside of us.[07:39.29]We are all in this you see.[07:40.61]We are all in the same society[07:42.33]and in the same world and everything that happens to us is our responsibility, you know.[07:47.28]Like any violence going in the world is just a symbol of all the violent atmosphere that is in the world, you see[07:56.53]And when the nazism persecuted the jewish people that wasn't only hitler, who did it or germany, who did it,[08:05.92]but just a symbol of everybody in the world who had the feeling for the persecution of jews, you see.[08:12.24]So we share everything,so that's not gonna happen,if there's war suddenly, that's our fault, you know.[08:20.18]Questioner:So what do you think about the behaviour of austrian and germans during the second world war?[08:25.74]Don't you think that they're a little bit more responsible than the others?[08:28.71]John and Yoko:No,not particularly.[08:31.29]The whole world,if the whole world was really aware of it[08:34.33]and if the journalists and the communication media of those days were really aware of their responsibility as well[08:41.09]and reported everything correct, you know,[08:43.77]well,which is almost impossible,i'm sure, but as much as possible[08:47.41]and if the whole world was aware of their responsibility,[08:50.90]it could have been stopped,i'm sure.[08:53.09]John:Well,we know that britain and a few other counties waited quite a long time before they made any decision about what to do.[09:02.82]I'm not quite sure of the facts, you know, but after czechoslovakia and things like that,[09:07.33]they could've stopped it earlier,[09:10.31]but they waited until it's on the doorstep, you know,[09:12.68]until it involves their money, their territory.[09:15.83]Questioner: there's a special type of petition that is vetoed by special contents ..[09:20.47]John:No.I don't think so because...ok![09:21.38]Questioner:Hitler could have been voted by the french, for instance.[09:30.07]John adn Yoko:Every nation will have a prototype.[09:33.67]I think I was out talking to one of the austrian TV guys.[09:37.57]I said can you name me one european country which hasn't sort of raped the world,[09:43.54]and he said austria actually was the only one that didn't attack anybody else.[09:47.53]They were always on the defensive side,i don't know whether that's true.[09:50.32]Qustioner:But they were silent at the wrong moment...[09:51.50]John:Okay,that's bad,I agree that silence is bad.[09:55.75]But i mean there isn't one european country that hasn't had its hitler in one way or the other[10:00.40]including britain,in what they did to india and south africa, you know.[10:05.17]Yoko:So let's so back to the future, you know.[10:07.22]So that's why we're here.[10:09.13]We want to talk mainly to the young people all over the world,[10:14.43]because those are the people who are going to be the next generation.[10:17.51]They're going to be the next world, you know,[10:19.39]and we just want to say we are with them.[10:21.25]We're not preaching or anything like that.[10:22.78]We want to be with them and we're with them[10:25.59]and in our way,we're justannouncing that we're open to all invitations or suggestions or anything to work for the world peace, you see,[10:35.65]and we're doing it now,in our own way, which we think is the best for us[10:39.14]and also the young people have to realise that[10:42.63]this is just as bad as before the second world war or right in the middle of it,you know,[10:48.93]that everything, all the violence that is happening in the world now[10:52.03]are our responsibility and if we don't really realise it and immediately start something, action, you know,[10:56.82]it's going to be bad,you know.[10:59.20]And it will be exactly like you said.[11:01.17]One morning,we find in the newspaper,[11:03.25]that the whole world is going to disappear, you know.[11:06.14]Questioner:I agree with you,but don't you see,i mean,it's a fact that by through your behaviour,[11:10.39]I think it's okay, but for a lot of people, through your behaviour,to get suspicious.[11:14.84]They don't think that this can be correct, people sitting under a tablecloth protesting against wars.[11:23.45]They don't think...[11:24.07]Yoko:Okay,before they criticise us,you know,[11:26.57]and if they want to criticise us,[11:28.74]okay,go ahead,[11:29.69]and they should do it in their own way,but do something, you know.[11:32.80]Questioner:So everybody should throw out his part of hitler out of his soul,then?[11:37.09]John:Yes,yes,we all have it in us.[11:39.10]In a way,[11:39.90]we're saying we want peace and we're staying in bed for peace,[11:43.14]but i'm as violent as the next man,[11:45.42]and i'm sure Yoko is just as violent just as well.[11:48.10]We're violent people, you know.[11:49.52]I prefer myself when I'm non-violent.[11:51.90]I prefer me friends when they're non-violent.[11:54.12]It just makes for easier living[11:56.04]and if we have to have violence, let's channel it,you know.[11:59.43]I don't know how,you know, there's other people can work out how to channel it,[12:03.52]or give them somewhere to play and kill each other or something.[12:06.25]But I don't want to be involved in their violence.[12:09.25]I prefer to live in peace, you know.[12:11.57]Yoko:All you need is courage, you know.[12:13.35]You can just go out in the street now and take off all your clothes and just say "peace",[12:17.35]you know and you'll be in the news you see.[12:19.52]Just courage and if everybody gets courage and of course they would,[12:22.79]because they would think all right maybe this is a little bit embarrassing thing to do,[12:27.91]but look at John and Yoko,[12:29.57]they're doing worse,so I can do it,you know.[12:31.75]That's all we're trying to do[12:33.10]You see.[12:33.93]Questioner:So you're putting courage, also, into the world?[12:36.55]John:We hope so.[12:37.42]Yoko:I hope so.[12:40.54]John:Okay.[13:16.39].[13:31.20]Stay in bed![13:51.53]John:Look there's a fly flitting around.[14:02.38]Hum-humm...[14:28.10]Hummm...[14:31.88]Just Makes you laugh.[14:37.15]Yoko:What time is it?[14:39.78]John:What's the time?[14:44.76]Yoko:What?[14:46.54]John:9:30[14:52.42]Good morning.[14:53.29]I was saying about bagism, you see,you get in this bag and you jump out the window.[14:59.85]Next thing you know, you got a policeman on your head.[15:04.74]You want tea?[15:08.88]Yoko:You know what I want,John?[15:11.51]John:What,what,what,what?[15:15.46]Oh,give us a chance![15:19.10]You want one before I do.[15:23.06]Yes,our name got round a lot.[15:26.50]Could I have room service,please.[15:33.07]Do you want toast?[15:35.39]Yoko: Just tea.[15:37.32]Which do you want, coffee or tea?[15:40.26]John:Tea.[15:41.27]Yoko:Tea.[15:43.61]John:Two teas please.[15:46.02]Yeah,902 and some toast yeah[15:50.21]Brown toast.[15:51.53]Good morning.yeah[15:54.23]Yeah.I know and some toast.[15:57.87]Brown toast, yeah.Thank you.[16:00.18]Bye,bye.[16:02.36]Alright then....[16:04.64]Ah~[16:16.91]John:Hello,dog.It's beautiful[16:20.50]No,no,no,it'll just take a lot of looking after.[16:22.66]We'll think about you,amsterdam.[16:26.81]It's a lovely dog,huh.[16:29.39]Thank you very much![16:30.74]Visitor:Here you are.[16:30.94]John:Thank you.[16:32.28]You gonna take him off me now?[16:33.13]Visitor:Yes,if you don't mind.[16:38.83]Thank you very much.[16:39.82]John:I thought you were giving[16:41.79]Visitor:Bye,bye.[16:42.46]John:Bye,bye.[16:45.72]No,no.[16:51.20]I sort of was under that impression.[16:57.43]She gave us the dog and then went away.[17:01.23]Well,very nice.[17:16.84]Yoko:It's rather sort of really swinging though.[17:19.23]Don't you think so?[17:36.57]John:The thought of the long haired beatle in the 19th century sanctuary.[17:51.23]Please stop this nonsense.[17:54.45]Go home.We don't like people like you.[17:57.36]Go to a doctor to be normal, you get this?[18:02.81]Go to a doctor to be normal.[18:04.48]We're seeing a psychiatrist today,so maybe he'll fix us up then.[18:09.08]Bloody marvellous.[18:11.00]We don't get through on some level,as you notice.[18:18.15]Was under *********.[18:19.66]Yeah beautiful,beautiful.[18:22.27]Keep smoking.[18:26.89]Nothing illegal[18:30.28]Beautiful,beautiful,thanks a lot.[18:32.31]Hey,those kids are as hard as the real press.[18:34.89]Yoko:Yes,amazing.[18:36.26]John:Amazing.[18:37.33]They're just as tough as the real press.[18:47.06]Very sexy.[18:51.29]It's a boy,it's a boy.[18:52.64]Questioner:Why are you staying in bed for 7 days?[18:54.61]John:Ah,because...[19:02.39]Questioner:Well,first of all,let me say congratulations on your marriage and that in dutch is[19:07.10]Ge-gefiliciteerd met je getrouw.[19:09.73]John:Oh,dank u wel[19:11.81]Oh,chocolat![19:14.08]Questioner:How about explaining this mission you are on at this moment![19:17.67]John:Well,you start...[19:19.80]Yoko:Well,you konw, because we thought of this idea about staying in bed for 7 days for protest against violence in the world.[19:29.24]Questioner:Did you think of its geographical situation as being the centre of europe?[19:33.59]John:No,I didn't realise,is it?[19:35.16]Oh,fantastic![19:36.90]It was magic then, you see, cause the way...[19:38.95]Questioner:Well,they call it the centre of europe.[19:41.44]It's an advertising campaign for an airline.[19:43.82]John:Okay,well give us a free ticket and we'll be all right.[19:48.32]Various people:Stand up![19:49.70]Stand up on your knees,maybe.[19:51.67]Turn up,turn up on your knees.[19:55.81]As soon as we can(unhearable)[19:58.64]but we need you here[20:06.92]John:So,anyway a policeman came in and an elephant jumped on me head,[20:10.09]so I said what's going on and he said cabbages and the next moment i was on film,yeah.[20:58.45]Visitor:Love,peace and bed![21:03.43]Not forgetting jam of course.[21:09.93]Okay,guess now it's over?[21:20.92]Qustioner:Are you cold?[21:22.88]John:No,no,no![21:31.16]Questioner:Yeah,music,you know,if you go back to the days of a,of a,let's see, where do we start now, we start with "do you love me?"[21:42.66]John:Not,not particularly.[21:46.29]How about that?[21:59.09]John singing:Goodbye amsterdam,goodbye.[22:12.90].[22:15.23]Stay in bed[22:21.30]For bed-in[22:30.04]For peace of the world[22:37.47]Stay in bed[22:48.53]Grow your hair.[22:56.61]Grow your hair.[23:02.92]Okay,good night.[23:05.45].[23:09.72]Now it's time to say good night[23:16.95]Good night, sleep tight.[23:25.89]Now the sun puts out his light.[23:40.56].[23:55.97]Yoko:What a beautiful day it was though, very tiring,though.[23:59.50]John:Hum.[24:05.57]It's so turning like crazy, you know.[24:08.73]John:You can say that sort of hot?[24:14.29].[24:15.38]Yoko:Grow your hair.[24:17.19]John:Bed peace.[24:18.72]Yoko:Hair peace.[24:20.03]John:Hair peace,Bed peace.[24:25.53]Oh,yeah...
